Because the CTM unit comes with the Universal Control board, it should work with the controller you currently have. Supported controllers include the SMXir, Passport I/O, Smart Touch, and Elite II. Notes if replacing a Dometic DTU10, DTG10 or ECD10 - 115V

The CTM CT-10 115V marine air conditioning and heat pump unit works as a good replacement for the Dometic DTG10 - 115V (205160109), DTU10 - 115V (205160100), or ECD10 - 115V (207500310). There are some specs that should be taken into consideration when replacing one of the units previously mentioned. 

- Because the CT-10 unit comes with the Universal Control board, it will work with the controller you currently have. Supported controllers included: SMXir, Passport I/O, Smart Touch, Elite II. 

- Waterline connections should be the same as the unit you are replacing, the CT-unit has a standard 5/8" water connection.

- The CT-10 Unit has a 5-inch ducting ring whereas the Dometic comes with a 6 inch. It is a quick replacement as the ducting can be easily cinched down with a clamp.

- Dimensions wise this unit is very similar to the one you are replacing, so It shouldn't be a major issue. However, it is suggested you double-check in order to avoid any issues when installing.

Warranty

The warranty period of registered CTM products is (3) three years, being the first year parts and labor, the second & third year parts only. For unregistered CTM products (1) one year, being the first 6 months parts and labor, and the last 6 months parts only. The warranty period of CTM products begins from the date of purchase (if purchased through a dealer or distributor), when installed  (if installed by an authorized CTM dealer) and/or at the time of possession of the vessel by the owner (for OEM installations). However, the warranty period shall not exceed (3) three years from the original manufacture date. CTM products include a serial number which is date-coded, in order to determine the manufacturer date of the product, you may contact CTM’s customer service to obtain the original date.

In the event there is an extended period of time between the date a CTM product is manufactured and the moment that the product goes into service, CTM will require proof of purchase. For unregistered products, a proof of purchase will be required as well.

Minimum straight duct length before any elbow, tee, or fitting

Before connecting any elbow, tee, Y-branch, or other fitting, a minimum straight duct run of 2.5× to 3.0× the duct ring diameter is mandatory. This ensures laminar airflow development and prevents turbulence, blower cavitation, and excessive back-pressure at the fitting inlet.

Installation Examples

Correct — Adequate Straight Run (H)

Sufficient straight duct length before fitting. Airflow fully develops before the tee/elbow inlet — laminar flow, no turbulence, no back-pressure.

Incorrect — Elbow Directly on Duct Ring (A)

Zero straight run — elbow fitted directly to duct ring. Severe turbulence, elevated back-pressure, and blower impeller cavitation will result. Coil freeze and condenser failure will follow.

Photo Reference — CT-16 (6" Duct Ring)

6" flexible duct  ·  14" straight run  ·  Hose tee 6" inlet — 5" / 5" outlets  ·  14" satisfies the 2.5× minimum (6 × 2.5 = 15"). Target 18" (3.0×) wherever installation space permits.

Condenser structural failure

Failure to maintain the required minimum straight duct run generates excessive static back-pressure at the blower inlet. The resulting aerodynamic cavitation — turbulent flow separation at the impeller — severely reduces volumetric airflow across the evaporator coil. With insufficient mass flow, the refrigerant cannot absorb adequate heat load, causing suction-side pressure to drop below the refrigerant’s freezing threshold and the evaporator coil to ice over.

Repeated freeze-and-thaw cycles subject the condenser to cumulative thermal fatigue stress. The cyclic volumetric expansion and contraction of the refrigerant circuit — driven entirely by the restricted airflow condition — will produce micro-fracturing and structural failure of the condenser body, resulting in refrigerant loss and complete unit failure.

CTM Marine warranty does not cover any unit failure attributable to improper duct installation. Evaporator freeze events, blower damage, and condenser failure resulting from non-compliant duct routing are classified as installer-induced damage and are explicitly excluded from all warranty coverage.
