This patented, submersible pump is a great way to remove unwanted water from boats, pool covers, aquariums and sump pits. Convenient and safe, too, because it needs no electrical cord - runs up to 5 hours on three alkaline D batteries. Excellent for use as a portable pump-out device for paddle boats, inflatables, duck boats, dingies and kayaks. Any craft that lacks a hard-wire, permenent electrical system.

We use this pump for a somewhat unusual purpose--to pump warm water from an insulated container onto the surface of our home ice skating rink for resurfacing the ice. Water is pumped through some tubing and a T-shaped PVC pipe wand with small holes across the top of the T to apply it fairly uniformly over the surface. If works well, and the battery powered feature is perfect for this application. This is not our first purchase, however. The switches on these units fail and we have not been able to find an appropriate replacement. The manufacturer has been great about replacing the complete unit if this happens during the warranty period. All in all, it is still an excellent value for the money if you need a battery operated pump that is easy to use and connect to standard hose fittings.
