Barnacle Buster can be safely used on all types of seawater cooled systems commonly found on vessels today. Most important, Barnacle Buster can be safely disposed of down the drain.

How often should you use Barnacle Buster?

As a general rule of thumb, an annual engine wash is a good preventive maintenance practice. This is especially important for motors with flexible rubber impellers. Marine fouling is the most common cause of impeller failure.

Monitoring engine temperature is critical. A sustained 5-10 degree rise in temperature could mean your cooling system is starting to have issues. Flushing can save you a lot of headaches before the problem gets worse. Most engines use seawater expelled from the engine to cool the exhaust gases leaving the engine. When this flow of water is reduced, steam (or white smoke) starts to come out of the exhaust pipe. One cause could be a clogged heat exchanger or aftercooler. For boat owners, an engine flush can prove to be an inexpensive troubleshooting technique.

Yes, but diluting the solution will not give the desired results.
