Navigation Lights

There are four common navigation lights - Sidelights (also called combination lights) are red and green lights that indicate a vessel’s port (left) side in red and starboard (right) in green. The sternlight is a white light seen only from behind or nearly behind a vessel. The masthead light is a white light that shines forward and to both sides on all power-driven vessels. The masthead light must be displayed by all vessels when under engine power. The all-around white light is used to combine a masthead light and sternlight into a single white light that can be seen by other vessels from any direction. This light serves as an anchor light when sidelights are extinguished.
